Determining Cubic Metres or CBM is the introductory step you will have to take in determining how to ship your cargo. You don’t want to be shipping FCL cargo as FCL Groupage cargo nor do you want to be shipping FCL Groupage Cargo as FCL, unless plainly you have reached or exceeded the break-even point of your cargo which I instruct in the section FCL vs FCL Groupage.
The CBM of a consignment is always calculated
L x W x H
e.g. 3,20 x 2,45 x 1,56
= 12,23CBM
For Seafreight shipments, the idea is to calculate CBM in metres. If you have 320cm’s
then convert it to 3,2metres before starting the calculation.
If you have 45cm’s then your formula will have 0,45metres.
A 20ft General Purpose or arid container will pack a greatest or most complete or best possible of 33,2CBM whilst a 40ft General Purpose or arid container will pack 67,7CBM.
A 40ft High Cube which will grant you more space to pack and will pack a greatest or most complete or best possible of 76,3CBM.
All of the above are subject to your line of commodity and how it is packed.
40ft General Purpose containers and High Cube containers are only to be applied for more prominent volume cargo and not more prominent weight cargo. In my article on cargo weights and road weight limitations, I talk about this point further.
Also to bear in mind is the length of your cargo, you can’t pack 13 metre steel pipes in a 40ft General Purpose container as it is only 12,036metres in lenght. The proper instrumentation will be required in this case.
For airfreight shipments, the method that the airline industry uses is the
Volume / Weight.
If you have 5 boxes that identical in size that are 23cmx34cmx56cm (LxBxH)
Presume that the actual weight of each of the 5 boxes is 10kgs.
What you will have to do basi is discerned the Volumetric from the Actual Weight.
Volumetric Weight Actual Weight
(23x34x56) div 6000 10kgs per box
= 43792 div 6000
= 7,30kgs per box
For 5 boxes : 7,30 x 5 For 5 boxes : 10 x 5
=36,5kgs =50kgs
The true weight necessitated to be declared to the airline here will be the actual weight
of the boxes of 50kgs.

 Great looking product!

I was very pleased with both the design and construction of this product. There are sufficient hooks for all of my pots and pans and the shelf above is keeping all the lids. It was easy to install, the brackets are in truth 16″ on center so I was capable to use the studs (not all merchandise have this dimension). I have purchased the bronze finish and it is a dark bronze.
I recomend it for those who need to get more room in their cabinets.

Solid, pretty, but get your own screws!

It looks outstanding and is solidly built (ie: heavy, you may need support installing it). I thought it was black, or a charcoal, it is in truth a variegated reddish-brown color (nice though!). Is just a bit wider than my stove (I installed above and it balances well) and looks rather nice. I’d give 5 stars, except the screws that came with it were cheap (sheared the head off one way too easily). I highly suggest you buy a package of 1-1/4 to 1-1/2″ wood screws either with it or before it gets to you (the screws included are 1-1/2″) – no one wants this thing falling down on them! The pan ‘hooks’ did not want to go over the center straps comfortably, and the picture on the box has them along the front (they did fit there well).
All in all, a solid 4 star. Serves it is purposes of both a handy way to store pans and looks pleasant as well.

Very attractive…

Our new pot rack is functional, pretty and seems to be rather sturdy. My only complaint is that the hooks don’t concede the pans to hang sideways…they hang with the pan itself facing front so they end up overlapping each other.
